The "Intermediate level" Accelerator Physics course is a
natural follow-up of the Introductory level course.
The course is composed of core topic
lectures on accelerator physics in the mornings and a dedicated topic
specialised course (12-14 hours of tuition amongst
a choice of three courses) in the
afternoon. The participants will select one afternoon course amongst the three
proposed.
For the afternoon courses, the basic idea is that the
participants select a topic for which they have no or very little preliminary
knowledge. This should allow the participants to discover
and get training in a new field of accelerator physics.
The course also includes "Tutorials"
in which the participants discuss their solution to problems proposed by their
tutors. There are also "Guided Studies" to
facilitate the preparation of the tutorials. A series of topical
seminars and a Poster session
complete the programme.
The Intermediate level course is clearly conceived as the
logical continuation of the Introductory level course for those being active in
the field of Accelerator Physics. However, it is also often considered as
an excellent opportunity to either discover and receive a basic training in a
new field, or for refreshing or keeping up-to-date people's expertise in the
field.
